KUALA LUMPUR: Her partner Sara Kamil Yusof may have quit the scene but there is no doubt that Suzanna Ghazali Bujang still has what it takes to excel in the graceful sport of synchronised swimming.

Yesterday, Suzanna made a successful return to competition, bagging the gold for Malaysia in the technical solo routine of the Malaysian Open and age-group synchronised swimming championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

Suzanna returned from a seven-month break to win the competition, finishing her six compulsory rotations with a total of 74.667 points.

The 21-year-old staved off a strong challenge from fellow Gemilang 2006 programme trainee Shareen Png Hui Chen, who took silver with 72.667. Uzbekistan's Darya Mojaeva took bronze with 72.667 points.
