DIVING: Pleasing Return For Duo

PANDELELA Rinong and Leong Mun Yee marked their return to competition for the first time as a pair since the London Olympics by finishing a creditable fourth in the 10m platform synchro at the Dubai leg of the World Series on Thursday.

Pandelela-Mun Yee, silver medallists at the 2010 Asian Games, were slightly rusty with their attempts but nonetheless, they managed 307.26 points.

It was an expected outcome as Mun Yee was hospitalised for two weeks in Guangzhou.

The veteran did not compete in last week's opening leg in Beijing.

China's Chen Ruolin-Liu Huixia won the event by totalling 353.04 followed by Canada's Meaghan Benfeito-Roseline Filion (331.44) and Russia's Yulia Koltunova-Natalia Goncharova (315.36).

As for Pandelela, the outing on Thursday only served as a try-out to test the venue in Dubai ahead of today's platform individual.

The 20-year-old, ranked second last season on the series, was third in Beijing.

Ahmad Amsyar Azman-Chew Yi Wei produced a commendable performance for fifth position with 394.47 in the men's 3m springboard synchro.

In the women's event, Cheong Jun Hoong-Wendy Ng finished last in the six-pair field with 292.20. By Ajitpal Singh
