Lai Kwan Satisfied With Result

AFTER a slow start by the national swimers at the World University Games (Universiade), Chui Lai Kwan managed to better her own national record on the final day of swimming yesterday.
Lai Kwan clocked 26.02 seconds in the women's 50m freestyle at the Universiade Aquatic Centre to better her own previous national by 0.01s, set at the New Delhi Commonwealth Games last year.

The result, however, was not enough to propel her into the final as she clocked the 12 fastest time in the 42-swimmer field.

"I am quite happy with my result as I was not too confident of breaking the record going into the event," said Lai Kwan, 21.
Leung Chii Lin, however, finished 29th in the same event with a time of 27.10s.

In the men's 1,500m, Kevin Yeap clocked 15 minutes 52.29 to finish 11th overall in what was a season's best time.
